Stuff that matters

It’s believed that around 42 per cent of marriages now end in divorce.

On top of that, lots of couples choose not to get married – so the real number of relationship breakups is set to be considerably higher.

Whether it was an amicable break-up or not, children and finances can make even the nicest separation a lot more complicated.

So what you need on these occasions, is for both parents to act like adults and try and act with kindness.

And if one of you doesn’t do that, and refuses to help provide for the child you’re meant to care off, well, all bets are off.

One woman went to extreme lengths to track down her ex in order to ensure he paid his child support after he tried to avoid it.

Mum Stephanie shared on TikTok how she managed to get her daughter’s father to pay up after he disappeared.

Dancing around cheerfuly in a video on TikTok, she wrote: “My daughter’s bio dad stopped showing up two years ago. He hadn’t been paying child support and the courts couldn’t find him. “

But she managed to find him down – and get the vital information she needed, such as where he was living, for the court.

She explained: “I catfished him and got his address and where he worked. I sent all the info to support enforcement.

“Now I get child support weekly from his paychecks. He’s still behind $23k (£16.5k).”

Naturally, people who saw the viral video wanted to know exactly how she found him.

She explained in the comments: “I made a fake Snapchat. It’s the only one that doesn’t look fake because you don’t need an extensive friends history.”

In a follow-up video, the mum said that she had offered the man the opportunity to sign his parental rights away.

She added: “I’ve tried. There are things that I can’t do because he still has parental rights.

“It’s his form of control, it’s what they do.”

People were quick to praise her, with one saying: “That’s incredible, Well done mumma!”

Another added: “That’s my kind of petty. And I am here for it.”
